Joyce and Henri Samoutou, founding directors of New Sight Congo were honoured and humbled to have won the international eXcellence in Ophthalmology Vision Award (XOVA). The award enables Joyce and Henri to train and empower locals to advance eye health in the Republic of Congo.  The Award ceremony was held in November 2012 during the 12th international AMD and Retina Congress attended by over 965 delegates from 45 countries.  The award was presented by Professor Francesco Bandello, from the founding board of the European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology, and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University Vita-Salute Scientific Institute San Raffaele, Milan.  For photos, please click here.
