Refractive Error

Refractive errors include short sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia.  They result from an unfocussed image falling on the retina. Uncorrected refractive errors are the main cause of vision impairment. They may result in lost education and employment opportunities, lower productivity and impaired quality of life.

We help by:

- Case detection:  Identification of individuals with poor vision that can be improved by correction.

- Eye examination: Identification of any co-existing eye condition needing care

- Refraction: Evaluation to determine the correction required

- Dispensing: Provision of the correction. The most frequent form is with the use of spectacles

- Follow-up: Ensuring compliance with prescription and good care of the correction, repairing or replacing the spectacles if needed.
